happy first day of Fall!

happy first day of Fall friends! 

here's to a wonderful season full of beautiful colors, crisp days, cozy sweaters, family gatherings, and delicious smells and tastes!

Yesterday was simply beautiful and it really felt like Fall. Andrew & I gathered up some friends to visit Gulick's Fruit Farm (where we got engaged!) for some good old fashioned apple picking. We picked Red Delicious for eating, and Cortland apples for baking tons and tons of apple crisp, apple pie, and apple sauce. yum.

500th sale!

These pretty western ankle boots marked my 500th sale on Etsy!! Whoo hoo!!! I can hardly believe it, and I feel so blessed to have such an awesome job that I enjoy so much.

And while we're on the subject of ankle boots..I've got a few beauties in the shop ready to be paired with tights and ankle socks and pranced around in this Fall!

last of the season..

I have really enjoyed having so many fresh vegetables from my Mom's garden this summer, and I am sad to see that the harvest season is coming to an end. 

Our countertop is covered in tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and carrots so I decided to make up some quick & easy tofu stir-fry with brown rice last night. It's cheaper and healthier than ordering Chinese food!

Part III: Hamilton

This will be my last post of pictures from beautiful Bermuda, then back to fashion, food & design. We will have to talk about a few of my favorite collections from Fashion Week! 

One thing I wanted to mention is how kind and friendly the Bermudians are! Everyone you pass says hello and even the bus drivers and store clerks make conversation. It was refreshing, since it is something we are unused to, and surprising since they must often tire of having so many tourists visiting their island! If we ever went back, I wouldn't hesitate to rent a cottage or apartment from a local resident. 

Part II: St. George's

We woke up Tuesday morning in St. George's and I snapped these photos as we ferried from the boat to the island. It almost doesn't look real it's so beautiful there!!

We took in the sights of the town (which took about 20 minutes, it's so small) and attempted to rent scooters before getting caught in a rainstorm. It was okay though b/c Andrew was too big for the bikes anyway, and his knees hit the handle bars. We ducked into a cafe to dry off and Andrew enjoyed a Ginger beer, the beverage of the island, and I had coffee to warm up.

This is in Turtle Bay. Though Bermuda is such a small island, it's beaches are absolutely pristine since most of them are part of the National Parks. The color of the water is unreal..(this is no jersey shore haha). Andrew and I managed to avoid the more touristy beaches and as we explored, we stumbled upon unbelievably gorgeous coves and bays which we usually had all to ourselves!

bermuda part I: at sea

Sunday morning we took the train into Manhattan to catch our boat. We were set to sail that evening and arrive in Bermuda Tuesday morning. As first time cruisers we were excited to experience this kind of travelling!

Sailing out of New York Harbor at sunset was simply beautiful, and the perfect way to start the trip. Our next day at sea was spent mostly lounging on deck reading, and admiring/marveling at being on the open sea.

I of course enjoyed dressing up for dinner, although we endured some wind and rain throughout the week which made windy photo shoots on deck tricky! I found the food to be mediocre, but I know that I'm labeled a "foodie" and tend to be a little critical. However, I think that part of the fun and adventure of traveling is finding new restaurants, and the restaurants on board seemed to all serve essentially the same thing each night.

We enjoyed having our coffee and breakfast in the mornings on deck. And I will say that the breakfast selection was quite good with plenty of fresh fruit and omelettes made to order. Though I am not sure we are "cruisers", or find this to be our choice mode of travel and vacation, it certainly feels glamorous to be on a cruise boat!
