soft and sparkly.

It's been awhile since I have posted an outfit, so here is one I particularly liked when I was styling and shooting today for the shop. I'm a sucker for feminine pieces like this soft, sparkly holiday sweater
I just listed this sweet sweater in the shop and I think it's the perfect mixture of cozy, but sweet & fancy with that bow across the shoulder.
Any fun plans for the weekend? I think I will have Andrew take me out for sushi tonight, although I know he really wants to see Harry Potter..so maybe we can compromise and do both at some point this weekend! My husband's handsome face did happen to grace the etsy fashion email today in the list of suggested shops! So that was exciting..

I also have some serious gift wrapping to do in the next few days, and this year I really want to try to make my packages look nice, instead of slapped together with scotch tape!

Happy Weekend!

holy, holy, holy.

Here is a shot of my window sill with these sweet little vintage trees that I picked up at a church rummage sale a few months ago. I had tucked them away and it was fun to re-discover them. Today I would like to lift up prayers for my dear friend Casey who has come out of surgery after having a meningioma tumor removed from her brain. Today they learned that the tumor was not benign and she will be undergoing radiation after she heals from the surgery in a few weeks.

This is my favorite Christmas song this year and I would like to dedicate it to my friend Casey today. She has had the most amazing positive attitude throughout all of this, showing such courage and strength. May she have peace that God is in control of all situations and we are praying for complete healing for her..

the tree.

When my dear friend Kat excitedly proposed that this year, "we actually go to a tree farm and chop down a tree!" I responded with "How else would we get our tree?". I had no idea that Kat had been deprived of such a tradition growing up in urban NJ while I had never gotten a tree any other way!
Our friend Scott joined us for the outing. We had to quickly choose our trees since it now gets dark at 5:00 (so depressing). I think this was the fastest I ever chose a tree! And I think I chose the perfect one if i do say so myself...

what i thrifted.

I have a serious weakness for vintage Christmas decorations, especially old glass ornaments like these. I snatched these up the other day at Salvation army, all still in their original boxes which makes them extra special in my book!
We're going out to chop down our tree today. Kat has been baking and cooking up holiday treats for our evening of transforming my living room into a winter wonderland and celebrating Andrew's birthday which was on friday!! He is 25!! We have officially reached mid-twenties friends.. So I will post some photos of the tree and other decor soon! Have you all been enjoying making your home cozy and festive for the holidays?

getting in the spirit.

I'm ready to start decorating for Christmas and we will be going to chop down our tree on Monday (i can't wait!!). Jordan Ferny of Oh Happy Day writes one of my favorite blogs to get party planning and holiday decor inspiration. She just wrote a tutorial on how to make these sweet felt garlands like the ones sold at Anthropologie (for a fraction of the cost!). She ordered the felt balls pictured below from Ornamentea, in case you get inspired!
