seriously, sequins!

this winter season, i am serious about sequins. i love them!! i love that they are no longer reserved for tacky "club wear". i give jcrew a large majority of the credit for making them look so fabulously elegant!!

here are a few sequined items from my shop!

a snowed-in evening of gingerbread houses..

we're snowed in this weekend! we are cozy in the cottage and it just keeps coming... fortunately we are snowed in with the best people possible...my brother evan & girlfriend kiersten, & my best friend hillary & boyfriend calvin.

THRIFTING FIND OF THE MONTH!!
i picked up this old school gingerbread kit at the thrift store early this morning before the snow hit!
it came with a recipe, and big cookie cutters to form the walls and roof! calvin read up & we got to work..

and the finished product!...

my brother evan

i have only one sibling and it's my brother evan.
here is evan making a dance entrance at my wedding this past summer with one of my best friends & bridesmaid, kat.

evan & i are pretty close as far as siblings go, & he is probably the funniest person i know..
he is also very talented. he is currently a film major at messiah college & this rad video is his final project for the semester.

"requirements included: no color, no camera movement, no zooming, no recorded audio. wanted us to use the camera as though it was early 1910s-20s"

it's called "rain". have a look..

evan works as a wedding videographer & if you live in the tri-state area and are need of someone, check him out on facebook or contact him.

i picked him up for 20 cents today at a thrift store..
what a steal...

staying warm...

maybe the fact that it's currently 26 degrees in my little town in PA, has something to do with my love for vintage coats as of late..
here are a few i shot today..can you tell i can't feel my face?

winter peaches gown

I had to share this sweet little winter peach dress with you. It's a Gunne Sax gown by Jessica McClintock & has the most precious big bow on the back. I wish I had a winter ball to attend b/c this dress is simply romantic..

fancy that. pretty vintage heels!

oh i love fancy vintage heels..
however i'm already 5' 8", so there is a time and a place for me to comfortably wear heels without feeling like a giantess. namely if i'm on a date with my extra tall husband..

P.S. I was surprised and happy to see one of my items, the vintage sugar plum fairy dress, featured on the Lovely clusters blog! It is in the third favorites cluster listed on this page.

have yourself a NAUTICAL little christmas.

Even though I live in the mountains and the winter is snowy & cold, I don't think that nautical pieces should be reserved for summer. I love seeing a bright pop of red, yellow or blue paired together nicely in the wintertime.

P.S. My adorable crocheted headband is from an etsy seller elspethjane!
