weekend: snowed in.

We resisted eating all the trick-or-treat candy on Saturday while we got 5 inches of snow here in PA! Wacky.. Andrew had strep throat so we laid low, cozy with our fireplace, & watched way too much netflix. Mom lost power, so she came for a visit with my favorite cat.

And every time I got stir crazy, I would cook something, like
this roasted fennel and white bean dip,(i highly recommend it) and a swiss chard + leek potato frittata.

The snow has already melted, which I don't mind at all since it came way too early, during mine, and everyone else's
favorite season.

happy halloween!

Happy Halloween!

What were you this year?
We have a live game of Clue to be a part of tonight so I have to work on my "Miss Peacock" costume, and Andrew will be "Professor Plum".

the shiny parts of my week.

Andrew's cold weather greens made the perfect lunch.
Successful thrifting for the shop.
Making my living room mantle a little festive.
New sparkly nail polish.

Going out for sushi with Andrew & having the nice surprise of running into our friends Abby & Josh!

For the first weekend in what feels like months, we have no plans and I am looking forward to it! Have a happy halloween weekend!!

etsy favorites.

I'm in the market for a new chunky cowl.
These would be perfect for gifts.

I was always enchanted by the wish-bone as a kid, and this necklace is rad!

I will be on the look out in thrift stores for a bag like this one.

my weekend.

We had a fun weekend with some old and new friends. We went for a hike, Nora made this recipe, hung out with baby Olivia, had a fire, and went for pumpkins.

late afternoon.

Yesterday the light looked so pretty on the lake after it had been storming all day. There was even a rainbow right after this! We are having some friends up this weekend to do some fall activities like hiking, pumpkin carving, cooking & bonfires. I'm really looking forward to it because the cold rainy days here have been a little depressing... TGIF! haha

a pop of color.

I need new throw pillows for my couches and I can't stop obsessing over these gorgeous handmade ikat pillows on etsy. The fabric is all hand woven and dyed in Uzbekistan. These would add a great pop of color, right?
But I also love something more subdued like the yellow and blues..or simple black & white? Andrew of course has no opinion on these things..

fall fun.

The colors are really popping here in the Poconos and I think this will be the weekend for prime Fall foliage. We took the youth group to a corn maze last weekend, but we still need to get out to do some serious apple and pumpkin picking..

the shiny parts of my week.

1. fall is here.
2. cooked a roasted chicken dinner for my parents.
3. andrew carved me stamp for the shop tags!
4. taco tuesday with the youth group girls.

Have a great Fall weekend!

a surprise gift...

A few weeks ago I walked into my kitchen to find a beautiful antique oak farmhouse table had replaced my old ugly ikea dining table... Taylor & Allison were waiting in the dark in my living room for an hour, with my camera in hand, ready to capture my reaction..
I was pretty shocked to say the least..
And did I mention that Taylor made this? I had jokingly said to him months ago, "You should build me a farmhouse table!" He took me seriously, and proceeded to watch endless youtube videos on how to do it, and then made this beautiful thing! It is almost finished, but I have to decide on stain color, and how I would like the edges/corners rounded.

Thanks Taylor, I LOVE it!

California Part II: Laguna + La Jolla

We saw a beautiful sunset over the Pacific Ocean in Laguna Beach. The coast reminded me of Italy, in the way that the homes are built into the sides of the cliffs. My brother Evan & his friend Justin drove down from LA to meet us for dinner at "The House of Big Fish and Cold Beer", which I would definitely reccomend.
Sea lions, birds & pelicans sunbathing in La Jolla.
Saying farewell to the Pacific Ocean..
