debbie's shower.

I attended my friend Debbie's bridal shower this weekend. Since Debbie is a flight attendant, and she is marrying Wade, who is a PILOT, it was only appropriate that her family throw her a travel themed shower!

It was very sweet, with tons of delicious homemade food from all cultures, and pictures and souvenirs from all of Deb's trips around the world! But out of all of the treats from around the world, I have to say that Abby's decadent "cake ball" pops pictured above were probably the hit of the party, and just too cute not to show off.
The food was awesome, with Mexican, Greek, Asian, Italian and Mediterranean. Debbie's family is Norwegian so there were of course Norwegian desserts, swedish meatballs, and plenty of Norwegian pride flags.
Her 4 sisters/bridesmaids all dressed in flight attendant uniforms... too cute!
(Sorry for the faces guys, too funny!)
Debbie was showered with beautiful gifts, and lots of love. Can't wait for the wedding!!

vanilla.

More here:

garland.

I am loving these garlands I keep seeing everywhere made from strips of fabric, and this sweet little party has inspired me to finally make one...I haven't had a reason/occasion to make one for, but do I really need one? I have loads of fabric and I think this will be my next project!

it's almost here..

Since I work from home, there were often days this winter that I don't even leave the house, and sometimes I really do feel like I have been hibernating these past few months and it's almost time to break out...it's nice to see grass again.

My lack of posts has been due to general business.. I have been working the past few days with pretty vintage silks, sewing up a storm of roses for some new bags for Spring. I will be selling them this weekend at a women's retreat at Tuscarora, so I'm trying to stock up and get everything ready for my little Simplethrift stand!

what i thrifted.

I found this little gem at the thrift store and I laughed out loud. I couldn't leave it there for only $1!
Allison made threats towards our friendship if I ever put my future child in it. After all, we do live in the woods where gun shots are nothing to be concerned over. But can you believe someone actually made this? It's hand sewn and I just love it..look at the eyelet lace trim!

What do you think? Would you ever put your child in this?? (I think that if Abby & Josh ever have a baby girl, I will have to gift it to her..)

winter weekend.

Where have I been? Winter Weekend, a retreat we take our youth group on every year. I spent the 3 day weekend with these girls...I laughed so hard I cried.
Andrew giving a motivational speech during the volleyball and basketball tournaments.
The whole gang.
It was an awesome weekend and we are all sad that it's over. It took me a good 24 hours to recover but now I'm back in action..
